I Call Bullsh*t

Happy Genocide Day!

Just as Columbus did not "discover" a hemisphere that was already inhabited by nearly 100 million people, his arrival should not be recognized as a heroic and celebratory event.

Columbus was the beginning of the American holocaust. Ethnic cleansing characterized by murder, torture, raping, pillaging, robbery, slavery, kidnapping, and forced removals of Indian people from their homelands.

To celebrate "Columbus Day" is to celebrate genocide.

Don't believe me? Stop believing the bullshit they fed you in elementary school and do some research for yourself.

... not to mention the social affect of what happened. just as other "holocausts" we know of, i think that the native community of america is suffering the consequences.

i dont believe in "reparations" for american black people, but i DO believe that we're still shitting on native americans. i may not give them money if they meander to the car outside of a local eatery (just as i wouldn't for any common meandering drunkard), but the white man has been shitting on them at least since the days of ol' sailin' christopher.

i sometimes wonder what capacity my cherokee roots evolved from. a cherokee woman married a white blood relative of mine back in the day. when i try to think of what she might have been like, i picture an 1800s trail dress with a high collar and typical lacey lining (see "little house on the prairie"). then i stop, because i dont like what i'm seeing...

happy nephites vs spainites history month. read your book of mormons sometime!
